CCTV Interviews Peru Program Director
CCTV goes on the ground in Peru to reveal the illegal logging that devastates the Peruvian Amazon and puts indigenous people, who are dependent on the Amazon’s forests, in danger. With interviews and footage from the field, this feature follows the illegal routes of Peruvian timber, investigating concession inspections and the laundering of falsified documents. The report features an interview with the widow of one of the four Ashaninka leaders, who were murdered due to their fight to gain land titling and combat illegal logging, in addition to an interview with EIA’s Peru Director, Julia Urrunaga, who discusses the Peruvian government’s acknowledgment and continued trade of illegal Peruvian timber.
